Suzy Shaw - The mom behind the mayhem

A storytelling pro moonlighting as an ‘ imperfect boy mom extraordinaire’

Before my book and podcast and even before motherhood I was a keen storyteller with a background in broadcast TV and a passion for sharing real-life experiences.

But life doesn’t follow a script.

Throughout my life and career, I’ve faced plenty of challenges adapting, reinventing, and pivoting more times than I can count! I started in public television, ran my own production company, and now work in digital marketing, where tech advancements continue to keep me on my toes.

But the great thing is, if you can roll with the punches in business, you can definitely handle a toddler tantrum and a teenage attitude!

I’ve never thought of myself as someone born to be a mother. MY MOM is that person. Instead, I’m a realist — lucky enough to have the opportunity to try my hand at this whole parenting thing, and strive to put two good humans out into the world.

One mom's journey through the ups, downs, and laugh-walla-your cry moments of raising boys

(Don’t worry, I got through it – and you will too! )

Hey there, I’m Suzy Shaw digital marketing professional, mom of two, and the voice behind the stories that make you feel a little less alone. I’ve spent my career telling stories, but nothing prepared me for the raw, unpredictable, and often hilarious world of boy parenting.

Now, I’m sharing it all with you: the good, the bad, and the “why is that sticky?”

Welcome to my world, where motherhood is by far the toughest job I’ve ever had and also the most worthwhile.

Navigating a crisis of confidence with “Math Glasses”

Exuberance started at the new school in first grade. At the beginning of second grade, he came home one day and told me that he could not do his math homework anymore because the numbers were spinning. “How about reading?” I ask. “Can you still read?” This issue didn’t affect reading, only math. So I read him his math homework out loud.

The next day, his new teacher flagged me down. She told me that Exuberance couldn’t do his math because the numbers were spinning. Good grief! OK, time to call Dr. B., the pediatrician. We discussed the possibility of dyslexia,  >> Read the Entire Story
